Connection
Is the real reason Anna didnt get the throne beacuse of her grandmother? At the begining of the story a man came to there house and said, "I doesnt matter if the first born is a girl, but if there IS a boy sibling then her sall be the emperor." Even though John did become the Emperor, Anna comtinued learning the ways to be Empress, and her whole family continued acting like she will be. Maybe Annas father knew all along that John will be Emperor and thats why he changed his mind so sunndenly.

I think that is a very good question. Yes, it does seem strange that the father changed his mind so quickly. Maybe the foreigners he met that had influenced him? I do like the fact that you put a quote in it too.
